A discovery is said to be an accident meeting a prepared mind.
From my experience of therapy, discovery for my clients comes from listening to their own ideas, their own thoughts, their own intuitions about their life stories, in conversation with another who is curious about the why’s, who’s, what’s and how’s within that story. My experience has been that the examined life can lead to discovery that is surprising and unknown. Therapy sessions are private, collaborative and improvisational, unique to every client and therapist; they provide a supportive confidential setting where you can take the time you need to consider your life deeply. I hope to provide you with a flexible, empathetic space where you feel comfortable to explore your past, present and future in a manner that is individual and meaningful to you, in a manner that prepares a path to discovery.
My Practice and Approach
My own life experience has been in the fields of business, education and the creative arts, each have had an impact on me and remain significant to this day. This varied experience has brought me into contact with people of diverse social, ethnic and economic backgrounds and my current practice parallels this diversity. Each client is unique, with their own individual history and perspective. I work collaboratively, respecting your perspective and what you bring to our sessions. Respect and assurance of confidentiality are the underpinnings I offer to help create trust. As trust and your comfort grow, we will explore more deeply the issues that keep you from living your life in a way that you would like.
Some of the issues I work with:
Abuse (physical & psychological, past & present)
Self destructive patterns
Life crisis and transitions
Loneliness and isolation
Mourning and bereavement
Aging and age related issues
