MY EXPERIENCE/ABOUT ME
As a registered psychotherapist, your well-being is at the heart of my work. My passion for this profession began with the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 1999. I then oriented my career towards Social Work where I earned a Bachelor’s degree (2002) and a Master’s degree (2007) at McGill University. I also developed a specialisation in Couple and Family Therapy through a post-graduate Certificate (2013) at the Institution of Community and Family Psychiatry at the Jewish General Hospital. In parallel to my continuing education, I was employed by the public sector for 15 years mostly working with individual adults and couples and in a private practice setting since 2009 working with children, adolescents and families. I am a member of the Order of Social Workers of Quebec since 2002, and I obtain a Psychotherapy permit delivered by the Order of Psychologists of Quebec since 2014. I recently became a member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario in 2017.
AREA OF FOCUS
What I find most enriching in my profession is the connection that I create with people. I am grateful to be working with a diverse population. I strive to help individuals, couples and families traverse tough transitions of life in the smoothest way possible through observation, guidance and concrete tools. I work with a variety of issues; from individual (self-esteem, stressful life events, separation, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, anger), to couple issues (conflicts, separation and divorce) and family issues (family conflict, behavioural concerns, substance abuse and mental health support in children and adolescents, parental coaching). I consider myself to be eclectic and proactive; I adapt my interventions to the needs and the personality of each client. The assessment and treatment models I employ include brief, solution- focused, cognitive behavioural and systemic therapies to help you find the answers to your own questions.
I listen to and evaluate your needs and offer my recommendations. We decide together on treatment goals and measures in order to ascertain that we are heading in the right direction and to meet your expectations. I am truly grateful for the trust my clients confide in me and I take my work very seriously. I would be happy to work with you and/or your family. Feel free to contact me to see if we are the right fit.
I work in both English and in French.
