My approach to psychotherapy is person-centred, humanistic, and resource-oriented. I first and foremost value the context(s) of your life, including your background, experiences, relationships, and hopes and dreams for the future. I see psychotherapy as a creative and collaborative approach to addressing and dealing with challenges. I aim to provide a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can share your feelings and concerns. I bring empathy and respect to our relationship, in the hope that through our therapeutic alliance you may develop valuable insights and expand your self-awareness, perhaps connecting with a part of yourself that doesn’t get to be ‘heard’ very often. I include myself in the session, offering feedback on what I observe and experience.
I believe that what makes me skilled as a therapist is my ongoing engagement with and understanding of therapy as a client, and first-hand experience with loved ones dealing with mental health and addiction issues.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist (qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and a Music Therapist Accredited with the Canadian Association of Music Therapists. I have been seeing clients for several years in mental health facilities, hospitals, and support centers. Some of the issues I’ve helped people work with include: stress, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, existential distress, grief and loss, abuse, illness, and spiritual growth.
In addition to being a psychotherapist and music therapist, I am a registered Hatha yoga instructor, musician, and nature lover. My space is a 20-minute walk or 10-minute streetcar ride away from Dundas West Subway station.
