I believe that small steps lead to big change. And that together we can make meaning of the confusing thoughts and the stuck place.
Think about something you’d like to change. Attached to that are limiting thought patterns or blocks – that like to stick around. These patterns can get in the way of getting what you want and sometimes push or bully you. Like eating when you aren’t really hungry and not knowing why or finding your legs feel too tired to get to the gym … even though you really want to workout. Old truths can be sneaky — they can hang out together and gang up on you.
I know what that’s like. I’ve challenged my own ‘gangs’. I have learned to question the negative stuff that was holding me back, and learned to bridge the gap between what I knew and what became possible to know.
My role as a therapist is to support you as you build that bridge and move towards a preferred way of thinking. Together we can take a look at what you want and the gang of thoughts that holds you back.
As a therapist I seek to establish a respectful, non-blaming, safe environment. Our conversations will be collaborative – we are going to work together and listen carefully. Conversations make a difference. They can create a sense of hopefulness, change a blocked perspective and generate new thoughts. I’m fascinated by words and the words people choose to express their thoughts and feelings. Imagine these words as puzzle pieces. We sort through the pieces and fit them together to better understand your story.
I am a mother, a multi-media artist and a writer. I have trained in Brief and Narrative Therapy at The Hincks-Dellcrest Institute in collaboration with the University of Toronto. I have a Master’s degree in Neurolinguistic Psychology and a Masters degree in Hypnosis.
I received my certification as a Master Hypnotist and NLP Practitioner from The Ontario Hypnosis Centre in Toronto, where I also worked for several years. I am a Member of the National Guild of Hypnotists and The International Medical & Dental Hypnotherapy Association. When appropriate I may suggest hypnosis during our sessions.
Sometimes you know what you want to change. And sometimes what you want to change can seem far away and unclear. Life is multi-storied. I will listen to your story and support you as you fit your pieces together.
